If you discover yourself in need of starting a car with calipers , you must get
it done correctly. Otherwise, your car or truck could be damaged in some way.
Through this post we show you how to use jump leads.
How should starter pliers be utilized?
As this last alternative is the most used, we shall focus on
how to use starter pliers correctly to avoid problems. Don't forget that people
are "playing" with something as serious as electricity and that
misuse may have consequences for the vehicle's electronics.
Before using the start pliers:
·
Logically, before using the tweezers you must
have previously purchased them. When buying them, you must take into
consideration the section and length of the cable and the grade of the
calipers, in addition to the displacement and power of one's car. This is very
important, since, as an example, the starter cables for a 2,000 cc passenger
car are different from those used for a 3,000 cc car. If you have any
questions, let yourself be advised by professionals.
·
Next, you will need to arrange them to ensure
that another driver –whom, from now on, we shall call donor or auxiliary– will
help you start your car or truck through theirs. And then check that the
batteries of both vehicles have exactly the same voltage. Concerning the
amperage, the donor battery must be of equal or greater intensity.
·
Next, you must bring one car closer to another,
so that there surely is the shortest possible distance between the batteries
but with no vehicles touching each other.
·
At this time, before placing the calipers you
will need to check that the contact of both cars is off. Also, make sure that
the lights, audio equipment, heating, etc. are not working. And as a safety
measure, it's advisable to use the handbrake of both cars.
Keeping of starter clamps:
·
If you should be unfamiliar with the starter
clamps, you might find they have two different colored cables: one red and
another black: the foremost is the positive (+) and the second reason is the
negative (-).
·
Well, you've to connect the clamps to the
terminals as follows. First, you've to clip among the red cable to the positive
terminal of the donor's battery and another to the positive terminal of one's
car's battery. And then, you must connect one clamp of the black cable to the
negative terminal of the auxiliary vehicle battery and another to a steel part
of one's car's engine compartment - not the battery. In this regard, some
vehicles have a certain terminal for this function.
·
Once it has been verified that the clamps are
well connected and will not come loose from the terminals, the auxiliary driver
must start the engine of the donor car and press the accelerator before the
needle of the rev counter reaches the 2,000 rpm mark.
·
While another driver keeps your car's engine
revving, you must start yours with the gear lever in neutral and depressing the
clutch - assuming you've a manual
car ;.
·
If you obtain your car or truck to begin
initially, bingo! But if not, don't despair. Take your time. Wait a minute or
two and try again.
We remove the clamps and end of the operation!
·
If your car or truck has begun, the donor car
driver must stop accelerating. Keep both vehicles idling and be ready to get
rid of the clamps from the terminals.
·
This operation must certanly be carried out in
reverse of the way the clamps were placed. First, the clamps is going to be
removed from the negative poles of your car or truck and the donor, and then
the ones that are connected to the positive terminals. To know more, check out: jump starters for cars
·
To make sure that your vehicle's battery
recovers its charge, it's advisable to produce a journey around 20 or 30
minutes.
·
Whether your car or truck starts, we recommend
that you bring it to a trusted
workshop for professional inspection.
They will check the condition of the battery and the alternator and see if
there are “parasitic consumptions” that cause it to discharge.
Olá João, ou Rafael, ou....vai postar umas fitinhas vhs ai, estamos esperando.
